There are a lot of options when it comes to treating nasal allergies (allergic rhinitis). Many people turn to OTC medication like antihistamines and, if there is stuffiness, decongestants to treat the symptoms. What you might not realize is that acupuncture can be used to treat nasal allergies too! This has even been supported in new guidelines from Academy of Otolaryngology, which list acupuncture as an option for reducing severity of symptoms. Check out the story at NPR on the topic.

Good news! I am now credentialed to accept VA patients through TriWest! If you or someone you know receives care at the VA in the Lexington area and would like to try acupuncture, talk to your doctor about getting a referral! (Self-pay clients don't need a referral.)
I'm very happy about this. When I was a patient safety fellow at the VA Medical Center here in Lexington, I thought it would be great if veterans could choose acupuncture, especially for pain relief. Pain from service connected injuries was (and continues to be) something many veterans must endure, potentially finding some relief from pain medication. A lot of veterans expressed an interest in trying acupuncture because they didn't like the side-effects of heavy-duty painkillers and narcotics (dizziness, drowsiness, constipation, etc) and the way it interfered with their quality of life. Acupuncture is a great option because it is effective, safe, complementary to Western biomedical care, and non-addictive!
